1-4/19/23 Kiwanda Corridor Project Update.

On 4/19/23 at the Kiawanda Community Center, Sarah Absher, Tillamook County, Director of Community Development gave an update on the first phase of the Kiwanda Corridor Project. Construction is to begin May 20230 thru June 30, 2023. There will be a pause July-September. Then construction will resume October through March of 2024. This first phase deals with the Cape Kiwanda Parking lot by the Pelican. It includes: the reconstruction of the parking lot (adding several more spaces); replacing the parking lot restrooms; upgrade parking lot garbage & recycling; adding electronic vehicle charging stations; adding a viewing deck, etc. See rendering here: https://tillamookcoast.com/southcounty/kiwanda-corridor/

Also discussed was the solicitation of ideas for the future look and feel of Pacific City-besides the Corridor Project. What do we want Pacific City to look like in 10-20 years? Many ideas were exchanged and this brain storming will be continued and lead to an update Pacific City-Woods Community Plan.

2-Short Term Rental Ordinance Update

Last July 1st, the Tillamook County Board of Commissioners placed a “pause” on any new Short Term Rental Permits-pending a new ordinance proposal. A STR Advisory Committee was formed and have been meeting for nearly a year (over 18 meetings in all). The goal is to have a proposal for the Commissioners to review, vote & implement in the years to come. The last meeting is scheduled for this Tuesday 5/9/23, before the final draft & presentation to the Commissioners. There will be 2 Public Forums in the next 30+ days and then the Commissioners will vote on the final draft by July 1st.

Remaining topics for committee discussion in relation to ordinance language include: “Site Plan”, “Floor Plan”, a continued discussion about “Transfer”, “Compliance” timeline for existing STRs, “Enforcement”, “Complaint Process” and any “Definitions” not yet previously discussed by the committee.
